Akita

With its majestic appearance, Akita illustrates both loyalty and friendship and symbolizes the role of a noble defender with its impressive build and sophisticated manners. Renowned for their remarkable intellectual capabilities and independent nature, Akitas stands out as remarkable companions. While being deeply loyal to their human companions, Akitas may display moments of self-reliance as well. However, their contrasting behavior toward loved ones and strangers is particularly evident and showcases not only their innate protective instincts but sensing nature as well.

The Main Characteristics:

  • Calmness
  • Loyalty and devotion
  • Courage
  • Alertness
  • Independence
  • High level of intelligence
  • Confidence
  • Stubbornness
  • Size

Female Akitas typically stand between 61 and 66 centimeters in height, while males typically range from 66 to 71 centimeters. In terms of length, both female and male Akitas measure between 93 and 110 centimeters.

    Weight

The weight of an Akita can vary based on factors such as genetics, diet, and overall health. Typically, adult male Akitas weigh between 45.4 kilograms and 59 kilograms, while females tend to be slightly lighter, ranging from 31.8 to 45.4 kilograms.

    Lifespan

Akita’s life span ranges from 10 to 15 years and is equivalent to about 66-93 years of human life. However, remember, these figures are only conditional, and the life expectancy of your important family member depends on his healthy lifestyle and harmonious living environment.

    Fur

Just like Siberian Husky, the outer part of the Akita’s characteristic double coat is rough and straight, while the inner part is soft and dense. This double layer of fur helps insulate and protect the Akita from various weather conditions. Akitas shed their fur twice a year, usually in spring and fall. During this period, to avoid the discomfort associated with shedding, it is recommended to brush the Akita regularly.
