Dog Breeds

Golden Retriever

Social nature and love of outdoor activities make the Golden Retriever a wonderful companion for those who enjoy walking, biking, hiking, or jogging. Despite the high level of energy, Golden Retrievers don’t refuse to rest in the company of their loved ones.

These important family members cope with such daunting challenges as assisting the disabled and participating in rescue endangers. Because of their calming effect and innate ability to sense human emotions, Golden Retrievers are excellent therapy dogs as well.

  • Size

While female Golden Retrievers are 55-57 cm tall, male Golden Retrievers can reach about 58-61 cm. As for other physical measures, the length of female and male Golden Retrievers ranges from 94-107 centimeters.

    Weight

Individual cases of Golden Retriever weight vary according to genetics, diet, and health status. However, as usual, an adult male Golden Retriever weighs between 29 and 34 kilograms. On the other hand, female Golden Retrievers don’t exceed 25-29 kilograms.

    Lifespan

A Golden Retriever’s life expectancy ranges from 10 to 12 years and is equivalent to about 66-77 years of human life. But still, remember, these figures are conditional, and the life expectancy of your important family members depends on their healthy lifestyle and harmonious living environment.

    Fur

Golden Retrievers are known for their medium-length golden coat. The undercoat, due to its waterproof nature, is extremely thick and provides excellent warmth in cold weather and coolness in hot weather. Due to the density of the fur, the grooming process requires special attention.

Golden Retriever shedding is observed throughout the year, however, this process is especially intense in spring and autumn. During this period, the fur requires daily brushing. Other times, repeating this procedure twice a week is enough.
